The groundwork for IFS achieving ISO 9001:2008 was laid in early 2009 with the creation of the “IFS Quality Matrix” (see below) after its development and with Quality Management System building blocks firmly in place, the commitment to achieving formal recognition for our system and certification shifted into top gear in March 2012.

“Putting the Customer at the Heart of Everything We Do”

Project planning began with Gary Donald our Safety & Compliance manager drawing up a timeline for actions which would culminate with the company going through Stage 1 audit in October and Stage 2 on-site audit 13 & 14th November.   With these dates set and agreed with our external auditor SGS, the company formally put into place the mandatory requirements of the ISO.

At the start of September, seven staff undertook industry recognised Internal Auditor training and almost immediately the audit programme started.  October came all too quickly and with a clean bill of health from the Stage 1 documentation audit and agreement to proceed, final internal audits were completed and external evaluation was eagerly anticipated.

The two days of external audit went well and our SGS auditor at the final wash up meeting was able to confirm recommendation for certification.  Thanks to a speedy turn around by SGS our certificate was with us just 2 weeks later.

We look forward to maintaining the momentum and continually striving to improve our service to our customers through our certified Quality Management System.
