Daniel Harper Promoted To BRDC SuperStars Programme For 2020
BMW Junior Team driver Daniel Harper has been selected to become part of the British Racing Drivers Club’s SuperStars programme for 2020, with the prestigious club recognising the Northern Irishman as one of the most exciting young talents in British motorsport.
Harper’s association with the BRDC began in 2018 when he was chosen to join their Rising Stars programme. Following a successful spell that includes winning the Porsche Carrera Cup GB title and securing a manufacturer contract with BMW Motorsport, the BRDC have now promoted him to SuperStars status.
Created in 2008, the unique BRDC SuperStars programme aims to develop the most promising young British drivers across all classes of racing, and is seen as a natural progression for the leading drivers in the BRDC Rising Stars initiative.
Over 40 drivers who have been part of the SuperStars programme over the last 12 years have gone on to become full-time professional racing drivers, including current Formula 1 stars George Russell, Lando Norris and Alex Albon.
Under the mentorship of programme director Andy Meyrick, BRDC SuperStars receive tailored help with mental coaching, physical training career guidance, sponsorship, media and public relations, while they are able to network with other BRDC members at multiple events through the year.
This exciting news comes as Harper continues his current fitness and mental training camp at Formula Medicine in Italy, ahead of moving to Germany to begin his race training programme with BMW Motorsport at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in March.
Daniel Harper: “It was truly an honour to have become part of the British Racing Drivers’ Club in 2018 when I was chosen to join the Rising Star programme. To have now become a SuperStar within the club is incredible and a fantastic opportunity for me.
“The work the team do to help young drivers like me progress in their professional careers is amazing and the roll call of former BRDC SuperStars speaks for itself. I am really looking forward to working with them and to continue representing the BRDC.”
